It is our pleasure to have you in oue home. We hope that you enjoy your stay with us and that you have a positive experience while living with us. We ensure that we will make all effirts to include you in our famuly as well as treat you with respect and consideration.
The following list is a gyide that we consider are ompirtant to keep harmony in the house. Please feel free to ask any questions about them. They have been prepared with the aim to avoid any disagreements that might occur either between you and your roommate or with us..
1. The student is expected to take part in the host family's daily activities and to participate in all family chores shared by the general family (i.e. clean table after dinner, prepare your own snacks or sandwiches, run the dishwasher, put dishes away, etc.)
2. The student is responsible for informing her host family when making plans to go out on a free day or afternoon, especially is the student will not be at home for dinner.
3. The student is responsible for packing his/her own lunches. If no leftovers are left from dinner, the student is responsible for preparing a sandwich for herself.
The student is also responsible for preparing and serving her own dinner.
4. The student shall show consideration and tolerance to host family members.
5. The student must promptly reimburse the host family if she causes any damage in the home.
6. The student shall invite guests to the home only with the knowledge and permission of the host family.
7. The student shall respect the privacy and belongings of the host family. As such, the studentis not allowed onto the second floor of the house, which is the host family's private area.
8. The student shall be cinsiderate of the fact that the host family does not have a large water thank for all their needs and will keep his/her showers to a maximum of of 15 minutes and finish showering no later than 10:30 pm in the evening.
9. The student can use the telephone as long as they keep the calls to areasonable length of time (i.e. 15 minutes) and shall restrict calls after 10:30 p.m.
Please, ensure that your let your friends an family know that they can call to our home number until maximum 11pm. No incoming phone calls should take place after that time, please buy call phone. Any long distance calls should be made with a calling card only.
10. The student shall help herself to food in the rerigerator and snacks, keeping in mind that all of food in the house is shared by everyone (this means the student should eat a reasonable amount of food)
11. The student will not smoke in the house.
12. The student shall keep her room clean and tidy and must sweep the floor and vacuum the carpet in her room and empty the garbage can once a week.
13. If the student is doing her laundry, it must be done once a week on a specific day
( ). When doing laundry, the student will use the washing machine and dryer only when there are large loads as the machines use a lot of energy. The student will not put one piece of clothing to wash or dry.
14. The student will clean the bathroom once a week on ( ).
The student will keep the bathroom clean each day as the bathroom is shared with the roommate.
15. The student will sweep and mop their hallway floor area once a week on( ).
16. The student will sweep and using kitchen and after each meal (ie: put dishes in dishwasher, wipe off the table). DO NOT, under any circomstance, leave dirty dishes, cups, and mugs sitting on the sink. Ypu must either wash them by hand or put them in the dishwasher.
17. The student can use the TV, DVD player and music stereo in the living room as long as she keeps the volume at a reasonable level and respects others in the house.
The student should show respect for her roommate and limit TV watching until 11pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends.
18. For sanitary reasons, the student shall eat only in the kitchen/dining area; No eating is permitted in the living room or in the bedroom. In addition, do not store food in your bedroom.
19. Please turn off the kitchen and hallway lights when you go to bed. This also aplies to your bedroom; therefore, please do not sleep with your light on.
20. The student can use the outside patio furniture as she wants,
21. The student shall respect and follow the host family's rules in their home.
22. If the student dies not comply with all the policies listed in this agreement, she may
be asked to leave the host family's home.
23. These ate some of the activities we ask to participate in order to keep the house clean: run the dishwasher if you see it full, take the garbage out when the kitchen's garbage can is full, take recycling material out, dry and pyt away dishes.
24. If you are the last pwespn tp come back ti the house at night make sure that you turn the house alarm on. Likewise, if you are the last person to leabe the house in the morning, or at any time of the day, make sure that you set up the alam and lock the back door.
25. Please be quiet if you get up early in the morning and use the kitchen, as the basement renter's bedroom is licated rigtht underneath the kitchen.
I have read the above stated terms and conditions and agree to abide by them as a condition of my living in the host family's home. The fanuly keeps the rught to ask the student to leave the house if she breakes any if thr house eules mentioned above.
